On the 576 transeuropean road (Bucuresti-Suceava-Vatra Dornei) or Oradea-Cluj Napoca-Vatra Dornei up to Pojorata commune. From here - to the right on DN (concrete road in a good shape along the commune) through Fundu Moldovei and Colacu up to Botus (10 km).
In the summer other ways of access can be "attacked" with more resistant vehicles - off road if possible:
- From Carlibaba (the Gaina lumber road): Lucina - Moldova Sulita - Breaza - Botus - Colacu - Fundu Moldovei;
- From Brodina: Brodina - Brodina de Sus - Moldova Sulita - Breaza - Botus - Colacu - Fundu Moldovei;
- From Carlibaba: Carlibaba - Valea Stanei - Obcina Ursului - Botusel - Botus - Fundu Moldovei;
- The Old Tartar Road: Mestecanis - Colacu - Orata - Botusul Mare - Carlibaba.

The summits of the ranges are long and curved the minimal altitude being between 821 and 718 m in the central part. The main summits in the area are of 1477m (Botusul Mare) and 1031m (Delut) altitude.

The continental climate, the rich precipitations have created conditions for the occurring of a rich flora and fauna. Besides the "Paraul Cailor Triassic moments" geological reservation, great deals of rare flora and fauna elements were identified.

As regards the administration we can tell you that centuries ago the commune was ruled by a "vornic" and since 1863 by an "antiste". The list of the vornics, antistes and mayors was reconstituted beginning with 1785 up to now. Mr. Tudor Zdrob is the present mayor of the commune since June 2004.
